Doctoral college
The Doctoral College Lille Nord de France brings together the six thematic multi-site doctoral schools hosted by the University of Lille and two operational departments, namely the International Actions Department (IAD) and the Careers and Employment Department (CED). Its objective is to reinforce interdisciplinarity and internationalization of doctoral training, to prepare PhD students for the pursuit of their professional career, in particular by working to create bridges between the academic world and the other actors of the society.
- The IAD department's mission is to propose new coordinated actions in order to reinforce PhD students' training and their international mobility, and to develop the international attractiveness of Graduate Schools. The three main actions of the IAD are a biannual outgoing mobility call, a visiting professor program and a welcome seminar for first-time foreign PhD students.
- The CED department's mission is to prepare PhD students for their career advancement, not only in the academic world but also more widely in the socio-economic world (companies, local authorities, associations) in France, in the cross-border area, especially in Belgium, in the European area and more generally internationally. CED develops a set of shared activities for the 6 Graduate Schools in for three audiences: PhD students, thesis supervisors and the socio-economic world.
The PhD programs offered by the CED aim to complete PhD students training organized within the graduate schools and the host laboratories by asserting their soft skills, but also by preparing them for the follow-up of their professional career, whether it be academic or business.
The Doctoral College catalog of professional training offers a set of seminars organized in 4 tracks: PhD and Companies, Entrepreneurship, Teaching, Career Pursuit and is articulated around 4 soft skills: Communication, Management, Project Management, Valorisation. The CED also organizes several events each year, such as Doctoriales, Challenge'Doc, DocEmploi, which allow PhD students to meet the socio-economic world and build their professional network.
